Liz is a self taught artist who has an undeniable passion for wildlife and portrait art. Born in Melbourne Victoria, she dabbled in a variety of mediums and discovered pastels, which she found ideal for recreating fur and feathers in her paintings. Over the last couple of months, Liz has been experimenting with a variety of mediums, and the work pictured above us the first in a series of new works. The latest work was a big challenge, not only with the size of the work, but working in a medium that was not a familiar one.

Her work is becoming ever increasing in demand with her versatility. "I love the softness and velvety feel of the pastels", she says. "And I get a real buzz when the painting starts to come to life. The same applies with the pencil and charcoal, there is nothing more satisfying than bringing seeing a drawing pop out of the page. The acrylic portraits have been a wonderful experience, I build them up in thin layers, much like graphite work to get the effect I am looking for."
